The Amansie South District Assembly and Asanko Gold Ghana Limited have begun extensive rehabilitation works on the Manso Akwasiso–Manso Nkran road to improve transportation and stimulate economic activities in the district.
The project, which involves road reshaping and rock-filling, is expected to enhance connectivity between communities, ease the movement of people and goods, and provide a safer and more reliable road network for residents and businesses.
The intervention forms part of a broader collaboration between the Assembly and the mining company to address infrastructure deficits and support sustainable development within the district.
According to the Site Manager of Asanko Gold Ghana Limited, Mr. Justice Fenteng, the rock-filling works covering the Manso Akwasiso–Koniase Nkran stretch, including the Manso Abiram section, are expected to be completed within 10 to 14 days.
He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting community development initiatives that improve the quality of life in its operational areas.
To assess the progress of work, the District Chief Executive for Amansie South, Mr. Benjamin Marfo, accompanied by the Presiding Member and other Assembly officials, inspected the project site.
The delegation expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and commended Asanko Gold Ghana Limited for responding promptly to the Assembly’s request to improve the deteriorating road.
Mr. Marfo described the project as a clear demonstration of the positive impact of partnerships between local government and the private sector in delivering essential infrastructure to communities.
He assured residents that the Assembly would continue to collaborate with development partners to improve roads and other critical infrastructure needed to boost economic growth and improve living standards across the district.
Residents and commuters have welcomed the road rehabilitation, expressing optimism that it will reduce travel challenges, improve access to neighbouring communities, and enhance commercial activities once completed.
