Dr. Kwaku Oteng, the CEO of Angel Group of Companies, visited the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) on May 2, 2025, to explore new opportunities for expanding the company’s industrial and export operations. The meeting marks a key step in Dr. Oteng’s strategic vision to enhance Angel Group’s growth potential through the Free Zones Programme.
Welcoming Dr. Oteng, Dr. Mary Awusi, the CEO of the GFZA, emphasized the importance of private sector engagement in the Free Zones initiative. She noted that such visits were crucial in fostering industrial development and increasing export capacity within the country.
Dr. Oteng outlined his vision for Angel Group’s future growth, explaining that securing a Free Zones License would help the company scale up its operations while aligning with the broader goals of industrialization and export expansion. This aligns with the group’s ongoing efforts to diversify its product offerings and increase its footprint in international markets, particularly within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Dr. Awusi, in her response, highlighted the numerous incentives available for companies operating in Free Zones, including attractive tax breaks, access to broader regional and international markets, and comprehensive institutional support. She expressed confidence in Angel Group’s ability to leverage these advantages, given its established track record in manufacturing, value addition, and job creation.
The GFZA CEO assured Dr. Oteng of the Authority’s full support in navigating the application process, emphasizing that this potential collaboration could significantly contribute to Ghana’s industrial growth and economic transformation.
This visit represents a strategic alignment between Angel Group’s goals and the government’s push to bolster the country’s industrial capacity and export potential under the Free Zones programme.
