The Anglican Diocese of Sefwi Wiawso has marked its 20th anniversary with a week-long celebration highlighted by community outreach activities, spiritual reflections and support for local healthcare services.
The anniversary, held in Sefwi Wiawso, was celebrated under the theme: “Proclaiming the Good News of God by Grace through Faith (2 Kings 7:9).” Activities included health screening exercises, mathematics and science quizzes, singing competitions, Bible quizzes and a football gala aimed at engaging members of the community.
As part of the celebrations, the Diocese also donated medical equipment to the Sefwi Anhwiaso Health Centre to support healthcare delivery in the area.
Delivering the sermon during the climax of the event, the Bishop of the Diocese, Kwame Kyem-Ampomah, urged Christians to remain steadfast in their faith and resist worldly influences.
He encouraged congregants, particularly the youth, to study the scriptures diligently to deepen their understanding of Christ and strengthen their ability to overcome temptations.
Chairing the ceremony, Sampson Ahi commended the Diocese for its contributions to national development, particularly in the areas of education, health and agriculture.
The MP, who also serves as Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry and is a member of the Diocese, donated an undisclosed amount to support the church and pledged to sponsor one member to attend Bible school within the Diocese.
The anniversary celebration brought together clergy, traditional leaders, government officials and members of the community to reflect on the Diocese’s two decades of service and its role in social and spiritual development in the region.
