A new nationwide survey by Global InfoAnalytics indicates that Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson has emerged as the front-runner in the contest to lead the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2028.
Speaking on Asaase Breakfast Show on Thursday, Global InfoAnalytics Executive Director Mussa Dankwah revealed that Forson currently enjoys 32% support, up from 23% in December 2025. NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah follows with 25%, while former frontrunner Haruna Iddrisu has slipped to third place with 23%.
The poll, conducted among 11,500 respondents through face-to-face interviews, phone calls, and online surveys, boasts a 99% confidence level and a 2.4% margin of error.
Dankwah noted that the findings reflect a rising preference for younger leadership, particularly among voters under 44, who represent a significant share of the party’s electorate.
“The data points to potential younger leaders within the party,” he said, while cautioning that the poll reflects current opinions rather than a guaranteed outcome.
Quarterly updates are planned, with the next poll expected by mid-year, offering insight into evolving voter sentiment within the NDC ahead of the 2028 leadership race.
