The Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipal Assembly is turning to faith-based engagement and community events as a strategy to strengthen unity, peace, and social development across the municipality.
As part of this approach, the Assembly has announced plans to institutionalise an annual Easter programme featuring a non-denominational church service alongside music and concert activities. The initiative is expected to rotate among major towns and communities to ensure inclusivity and broaden participation.
Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Wisdom Osei Boamah, said the programme goes beyond religious observance, serving as a platform to promote moral values, encourage good behaviour, and stimulate local economic activity through increased public gatherings.
The maiden edition, held at Abuakwa, brought together a cross-section of society, including political leaders, clergy, traditional authorities, business owners, and residents, highlighting the Assembly’s effort to foster community-wide engagement.
Officials also used the occasion to outline ongoing and planned development projects in sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, and sanitation. The move, according to the Assembly, forms part of efforts to deepen transparency and keep residents informed about governance and resource utilisation.
The Assembly further signalled a commitment to efficiency in project delivery, indicating that all awarded contracts would be executed within a six-month timeframe to allow for the rollout of additional projects across other communities.
Religious leaders at the event commended the initiative, describing it as a meaningful way to combine leadership with moral guidance. They also called on leaders to demonstrate humility, fairness, and inclusiveness in their service to the people.
The annual Easter programme is expected to become a key fixture in the municipality’s calendar, blending spirituality, community development, and civic engagement to drive long-term social cohesion.
