Former Vice President and 2024 NPP flagbearer, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to unite and rebuild in the wake of the party’s defeat in the last general elections.
Speaking during a “Thank You” tour stop in Atebubu in the Bono East Region on Friday, Dr. Bawumia urged grassroots members and executives to put aside grievances and work together to restore the party’s strength ahead of the 2028 polls.
“The NPP belongs to all of us. If we are to reclaim power in 2028, we must first reconcile with one another and build a stronger, more united party from the ground up,” he said.
Addressing supporters from five constituencies—Atebubu-Amantin, Sene East, Sene West, Pru East, and Pru West—Dr. Bawumia acknowledged the concerns of disillusioned members who felt sidelined during the last electioneering campaign.
He offered an apology to those who felt neglected or mistreated, stressing that mistakes must be acknowledged and corrected to move the party forward.
“We must confront what went wrong, learn from it, and emerge stronger. That process begins with forgiveness and unity,” he told the gathering.
The former Vice President was accompanied by a delegation of key party figures, including MPs Kojo Oppong Nkrumah (Ofoase Ayirebi), Dominic Nitiwul (Bimbilla), and Dr. Gideon Boako (Tano North), as well as NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong.
Also present were prominent party leaders such as Masawudu Osman, NPP’s National Third Vice Chairman; Nana Akomea, a former Communications Director; and Dr. Anyass Ibrahim, former CEO of the Nation Builders Corps (NaBCo).
Dr. Bawumia underscored the critical role of polling station executives, coordinators, and constituency leadership in shaping the party’s future, noting that local-level commitment would be decisive in regaining political power.
The Bono East leg of the nationwide tour continues his post-election engagements aimed at healing internal divisions and rallying the party base toward a renewed vision for 2028.
