TemThe flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mahamudu Bawumia, has renewed his appeal for support from Zongo communities across the country, promising to deepen development initiatives and improve livelihoods if elected President in the 2028 general election.
His message was delivered during the grand coronation ceremony of newly enskinned chiefs of the Tema Zongo and Songhai communities at Tema Newtown in the Greater Accra Region.
Although Dr. Bawumia attended the event, his address was delivered on his behalf by former Offinso South Member of Parliament, Ben Abdallah Banda.
In the message, Dr. Bawumia expressed gratitude for the support he has received from Zongo communities over the years and assured residents that their development remained a key priority in his political vision.
“Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has done a lot for this country and will make this country better and greater when elected as the President of Ghana,” Mr. Banda told the gathering.
The event brought together a wide range of religious, political and traditional leaders, reflecting the significance of the occasion within the Muslim community.
Among those present were the National Chief Imam, Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Titus Glover, traditional rulers, Muslim clerics and community leaders.
The ceremony featured Islamic prayers and Qur’anic recitations led by the National Chief Imam and culminated in the enskinment of Mohammed Elias as Sarkin Samari (Youth Chief) of the Tema Zongo and Songhai communities.
Dr. Bawumia’s participation in the event forms part of ongoing engagements with various communities as political parties begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2028 presidential election.
