Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will not be intimidated by the recent arrests of some of its members, insisting the party will continue engaging the public and advancing its political message.
His remarks come amid rising concern within the NPP over the arrest of party officials by security agencies, including the Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, and Agona West NPP Organiser David Essendoh.
Speaking at a meeting with student leaders at the University of Ghana on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, ahead of a three-day party boot camp, Dr. Bawumia stressed that the NPP’s response will remain firmly rooted in political engagement rather than fear or withdrawal.
“We will take the debate and idea to the country, and we will make our case. We are, however, saying that we will not be intimidated,” he said.
He further insisted that no amount of arrests would deter the party from communicating its message to the public.
“You can arrest all of us. We will come back and make our case to the people of Ghana,” he added.
Dr. Bawumia’s comments reflect growing unease within the party following recent legal actions involving some of its key members, with party leaders maintaining that they will continue their outreach activities despite the developments.
