The Berekum Traditional Council in the Bono Region has commended the successful and peaceful enstoolment of Osabarima Kyere Diabour Krobea Asante as the new Paramount Chief of the Berekum Traditional Area.
The Council expressed gratitude to kingmakers, sub-chiefs, queen mothers, and indigenes both in Ghana and abroad for their cooperation and orderly conduct throughout the selection and enstoolment process.
The new Paramount Chief ascends the Berekum Stool following the passing of the late Paramount Chief, Daasebre Dr Amankona Diawuo II, who died on June 9, 2023, after a short illness.
Speaking on behalf of the Paramount Queen Mother, Nana Akosua Agyemang, spokesperson Nana Kwame Darko assured the public that the transition process remains peaceful as the newly enstooled chief undergoes the mandatory 40-day confinement rites.
He explained that the confinement period is a sacred traditional requirement during which the chief is introduced to the customs, traditions, and history of the Berekum State ahead of his official outdooring.
Nana Darko announced that after the completion of the rites, a grand durbar will be held at the Berekum Omanhene’s Park to officially outdoor the Paramount Chief.
He further described the successful enstoolment as a major step toward unity and development within the traditional area, urging continued cooperation among all stakeholders.
The Council also cautioned against the misuse of social media to spread misinformation or insult the traditional leadership, warning that such actions would attract sanctions under both customary and state laws.
Nana Darko appealed to citizens of Berekum, both home and abroad, to support the new Paramount Chief in promoting peace, unity, and development in the area.
