The Black Queens have unveiled a 27-player provisional squad as they step up preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco later this month.
The selection features a mix of experienced internationals and emerging talents as the team aims to strike a balance between continuity and youth development.
Leading the squad is captain Portia Boakye, who is joined by seasoned players including Grace Asantewaa, Cynthia Konlan, Alice Kusi, Evelyn Badu, Jennifer Cudjoe, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah, and Princella Adubea.
The list also includes locally based players such as Jonina Ladies’ Osman Huzeima and Ampem Darkoa Ladies’ Ajegipina Zakaria, reflecting the technical team’s efforts to broaden the talent pool.
The team is expected to report to camp in the coming days as preparations intensify for the continental tournament.
Ghana has been drawn in Group D, where they will face Cape Verde on July 29, Cameroon on August 2, and Mali on August 6. All group matches will be played at the Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca.
The Queens will be targeting a strong campaign as they look to make an impact at the competition and progress deep into the tournament.
