Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Iddie Adams has assured Parliament that the Black Queens have no outstanding bonuses or per diems arising from their participation in the Pink Ladies Tournament and the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Appearing before Parliament’s Select Committee on Youth and Sports on Thursday, September 17, 2026, Mr Adams said the government had settled all payments due the national women’s senior team.
His assurance followed concerns reportedly raised by members of the Black Queens over unpaid bonuses and allowances.
According to the Minister, the team received all outstanding payments from the Pink Ladies Tournament, which Ghana won earlier this year.
He said all pre-camping payments due to the players and officials had also been settled before the team’s participation in the WAFCON.
“The Black Queens have been paid all outstanding allowances in relation to the Pink Ladies Tournament, which was played earlier this year. For the Pink Ladies Tournament, they emerged victorious, so they have been paid everything that was due to them,” he said.
Mr Adams added that the players and officials received their applicable per diems and bonuses throughout the WAFCON tournament.
“All pre-camping payments have also been made to the team and officials. During the WAFCON tournament, they were paid all the per diems and bonuses due to them. So, currently, the Queens are not owed any per diems or bonuses,” he said.
Focus shifts to World Cup play-offs
With the payments issue addressed, attention now shifts to Ghana’s preparations for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Play-Off Tournament scheduled for November 24 to December 5, 2026.
The Black Queens have been drawn against Ecuador, Uzbekistan and Papua New Guinea in the preliminary phase of the tournament.
The team will be seeking to progress through the play-offs as Ghana continues its bid to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
