Ghana’s return to the FIFA World Cup has delivered a significant boost to the Black Stars in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola Men’s World Ranking.
The Black Stars have moved up eight places to 65th in the world, according to the rankings released by FIFA on July 20, 2026.
Ghana was previously ranked 73rd before the start of the tournament.
The rise comes despite the team’s elimination at the Round of 32 stage following a narrow 1-0 defeat to Colombia.
The Black Stars’ improved ranking is being viewed as a positive outcome from their return to the global tournament after Ghana failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The latest position also places Ghana among the leading teams on the African continent and offers the national team a stronger platform as it prepares for upcoming international assignments.
The Black Stars will now be expected to consolidate the gains by securing positive results in future fixtures and continuing their climb in the FIFA rankings.
Ghana’s improved standing comes as the team seeks to rebuild momentum and establish greater consistency ahead of future continental and global competitions.
