The Central Tongu District Assembly has taken a decisive step toward deepening inclusive governance, following a high-level engagement between District Chief Executive Mr. Dodzi Addison Mornyuie and leaders of the Woman Disability Development and Advocacy Organization (WODAO).
The meeting underscored the growing synergy between local government and grassroots disability rights advocates, particularly WODAO, an organization committed to empowering women and girls with disabilities, including those with mental health and psychosocial challenges.
Mr. Mornyuie commended WODAO for its unwavering advocacy and called the organization a critical partner in achieving equitable community development. He reaffirmed the Assembly’s dedication to ensuring that development in Central Tongu is inclusive and leaves no group behind.
“Inclusive development is not just a government policy—it’s a collective responsibility,” the DCE stated. “We must work hand in hand with organizations like WODAO to ensure everyone, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to thrive.”
WODAO leaders welcomed the Assembly’s openness, praising Mr. Mornyuie’s responsiveness to their cause. They reiterated their commitment to ongoing partnership and applauded the district’s support for creating equal opportunities for all, especially marginalized women and girls with disabilities.
