R&B artist Chris Brown has once again found himself embroiled in legal troubles as UK authorities arrested him on May 15, 2025, at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester. The arrest relates to an alleged assault that reportedly took place over two years ago, in February 2023, at the high-profile Tape nightclub in Mayfair, London.
The incident involves music producer Abe Diaw, who claims Brown assaulted him with a Don Julio 1942 tequila bottle and inflicted further injuries while he was incapacitated, resulting in Diaw being hospitalized and requiring crutches for mobility. Following the arrest, the Metropolitan Police confirmed a suspect matching Brown’s description was taken into custody on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
This development casts uncertainty over Brown’s upcoming UK tour, including the highly anticipated “Breezy Bowl XX” tour scheduled to kick off June 15. With the legal proceedings still unfolding, the status of Brown’s live performances remains unclear.
In addition to criminal proceedings, Diaw has initiated a $16 million lawsuit in the UK, alleging severe physical and psychological harm. Brown’s legal team has yet to respond publicly to the recent arrest or the lawsuit.
This incident adds to Brown’s history of legal difficulties, including a notable 2009 felony conviction related to assault. The ongoing legal battles may significantly impact his public image and career momentum as he prepares for his return to the UK music scene.
