Maxwell Kofi Jumah, the former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries, has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with allegations of unauthorized possession and theft of vehicles from Gayhawk Distilleries Company Limited.
COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, Director-General of CID, disclosed the arrest during a press briefing, explaining that the action followed a formal complaint by Gayhawk Distilleries accusing Jumah of unlawfully taking company vehicles.
“Following a petition from Gayhawk Distilleries, we secured an arrest warrant and apprehended Mr. Jumah, who is now cooperating with investigators,” COP Donkor stated.
She also revealed that law enforcement has made significant strides in the investigation, having recovered two to three of the vehicles reported missing.
Currently held at CID headquarters in Accra, Jumah remains under investigation as authorities work to recover additional assets and unravel the full extent of the alleged improprieties during his tenure at the state-owned distillery.
