Residents of Amefinukope in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region are reeling from the shocking discovery of five exhumed bodies in two local cemeteries, with the heads and other body parts of the deceased missing.
The grim find, which occurred on Wednesday, 7th May 2025, has left the community in a state of fear and confusion.
Community leader Kwashi Senaya revealed that the graves, belonging to the Amefinu and Kponor families, were found damaged and desecrated, with the most disturbing detail being the absence of the heads of the deceased. “The heads of the deceased were gone,” Senaya reported, describing the scene as deeply unsettling.
The incident has been reported to the Ghana Police Service, with authorities from the Agbozume Police Station launching a thorough investigation. The police have promised to bring those responsible for the sacrilegious act to justice, though the motives behind the grave desecration remain unclear.
