The Centre for CSR, West Africa, a leading regional advocate for corporate responsibility and sustainability, has announced its strategic support for the inaugural Climate x Culture Summit 2026. The partnership aims to bring climate action into the heart of Ghana’s creative, cultural and events industries and help turn concern into lasting practice.
Taking place on 22 October 2026 at the Google Artificial Intelligence Community Centre in Accra, the summit will explore the theme “Designing Sustainable Creative Experiences for Africa.” It will bring together artists, event producers, influencers and other creative-sector leaders to develop practical approaches to climate-conscious production.
“Climate change is no longer an abstract warning. It is the reality shaping our lives, economies, communities and creative futures,” said John Kojo Williams, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of the Centre for CSR, West Africa, and a PhD researcher in corporate sustainability at a leading UK university. “Corporate sustainability is no longer a badge of good intentions. It is the discipline of turning responsibility into measurable action. It is no longer a buzzword; it is a must-word.”
He added: “Our commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals is a promise we must keep today so that there can be a tomorrow. The question is no longer whether we can afford to act, but whether we can afford the cost of doing nothing or not doing enough.”
For 14 years, the Centre has convened national and regional sustainability events and partnerships, bringing together stakeholders from academia, government, civil society, media, business and communities. Its support for the summit extends that work into a sector with the power to shape public imagination and everyday choices.
“True sustainability must be woven into our culture, our art and our daily lives,” Williams said. “By equipping the creative and events industries with tools for sustainable production, we are not just talking about change, we are building it into our future.”
Kenneth Darko, Founder of the Climate x Culture Summit, said the event is designed to produce practical outcomes, including the signing of the Accra Climate Culture Accord and the development of a Sustainable Event Production Guide for Ghana. The organisers also aim to establish a lasting network of climate-culture practitioners, helping make sustainability a core part of the region’s growing events industry.
The partnership brings together the summit’s creative-sector focus and the Centre’s experience in CSR policy and sustainability strategy. Together, the organisations seek to make climate action more tangible—across the stages, gatherings and cultural experiences that connect people.
