Operations at the Sunyani District Magistrate Court have been severely affected following a devastating fire that razed the facility in the early hours of Sunday.
The blaze, which occurred between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m., destroyed all nine offices and a holding cell within the court complex located near the Sunyani Municipal Assembly in Sunyani.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service, emergency responders arrived promptly after receiving a distress call and managed to contain the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures.
Regional Public Relations Officer, Kwame Adomako, confirmed that a security officer who was on duty at the time was safely rescued and did not sustain any injuries.
While no casualties were recorded, the destruction of the court facility is expected to disrupt judicial activities in the area as authorities assess the extent of damage and consider temporary arrangements.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, with investigations currently underway by fire officials.
