Sheikh Zakaria Ibrahim has called on Muslims in the Bono Region to pray for national and global peace, particularly in light of ongoing tensions between the United States, Israel, and Iran.
Addressing hundreds of worshippers during the Eid-Ul-Fitr celebration in Dormaa-Ahenkro, Sheikh Ibrahim emphasised the importance of sustaining Ghana’s current peace for development to thrive. He encouraged prayers for leaders to make wise decisions and urged Muslims to avoid negative behaviours such as dishonesty and false witnessing, highlighting the need to stand against social ills to attract Allah’s blessings.
“The Ramadan period is for reflection and self-correction. Conduct yourselves responsibly, show love and compassion, and strive to acquire genuine wealth without resorting to wrongdoing,” he advised.
The Chief Imam also provided financial updates from the recently concluded Ramadan conference in Amasu, reporting total proceeds of GHC555,023 and expenditures of GHC30,898.
Supporting the call for moral responsibility, Baffour Oppong Asare, Akyeamehene of the Dormaa Traditional Area, condemned indecent dressing among Muslim youth and warned against involvement in illegal mining and other social vices.
Dormaa Central MP John Kwame Adu Jack reiterated the government’s commitment to reducing the cost of Muslim pilgrimages and pledged 100 bags of cement to support the construction of the Senior High School project at Sromani in the municipality.
The Eid-Ul-Fitr gathering thus combined religious observance with calls for ethical conduct, community development, and prayers for peace both locally and internationally.
