As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) grapples with internal tensions in its new role as opposition, Abetifi Member of Parliament, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has placed responsibility squarely on party leadership to steer the organization towards unity and renewal.
In a recent statement, Dr. Acheampong acknowledged the increasing frictions, especially visible in social media disputes, but stressed that the party’s revival depends on mature, disciplined leadership committed to healing divisions. “Our leaders must set the tone by promoting discipline, unity, and hope,” he said.
The Abetifi MP’s call comes as the NPP faces mounting pressure to redefine itself after losing power, with members debating reforms and direction. Dr. Acheampong reminded party members that their shared commitment to Ghana’s progress and the party’s core values should be the foundation for rebuilding.
He emphasized that mere tolerance of differences is not enough; instead, the party must engage in meaningful dialogue and collective action to present a credible and cohesive alternative to voters. “Leadership must inspire collaboration and courage to restore public confidence,” he added.
As the NPP prepares for upcoming elections, Dr. Acheampong’s message highlights the crucial role of leadership in transforming internal challenges into an opportunity for growth, unity, and a stronger future.
