Political analyst and Founding President of the UP Tradition Institute, Dr. Razak Kojo Opoku, has called on the party to adopt new strategic approaches as it prepares for the 2028 general elections.
In a Facebook post, Mr. Opoku argued that the magnitude of the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 elections requires a deep re-examination of the party’s campaign strategies.
According to him, the party must embrace Prospect Theory, High Reliability Theory, Reliability Prediction Theory, and Change Theory as guiding principles in rebuilding its electoral fortunes.
He stressed that relying on Entrenchment Theory, Predictive Theory, or what he termed as “Hope Theory” would likely yield results similar to the 2024 elections, in which the NPP lost power to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“Voters’ decisions are highly unpredictable, and the NPP must present a candidate who appeals to the majority of Ghanaians,” he noted, warning that complacency or reliance on outdated political strategies could prove costly in 2028.
His comments come at a time when internal conversations are intensifying over the future direction of the party and the qualities needed in its next presidential candidate.
