The 2026 Dzita Easter Homecoming Festival is taking on a more strategic role beyond celebration, positioning education as the cornerstone for long-term development in the coastal community.
Scheduled from April 2 to April 6, the annual event—organised by the Dzita Development Association—is shifting focus toward improving educational outcomes, with stakeholders expected to chart a new path for youth empowerment and community growth.
Under the theme “Securing the Future of Dzita Traditional Area through Educational Outcomes Improvement,” this year’s festival blends policy dialogue, youth engagement, and cultural expression into a unified development platform.
A key highlight will be the Dzita Development Congress, where traditional leaders, policymakers, and development partners are expected to deliberate on strategies to strengthen education and infrastructure in the area. The forum is anticipated to produce actionable ideas aimed at addressing gaps in teaching, learning resources, and student performance.
Education-driven activities will also take center stage through an inter-school quiz competition, designed to promote academic excellence and inspire students across the community.
Beyond the intellectual engagements, the festival will maintain its vibrant cultural identity with events such as a grand durbar of chiefs and people, expected to attract high-profile dignitaries including Togbi Sri III and Richard Sefe.
Health and wellness will also feature prominently, with free screening exercises and a community health walk aimed at promoting preventive healthcare.
Organisers have further incorporated recreational and social activities—including a football gala, street carnival, and artist night—to ensure broad participation, particularly among the youth.
By aligning cultural festivities with education and development priorities, the Dzita Easter Homecoming Festival is evolving into a platform for community transformation, using tradition not just as a celebration of identity but as a driver of progress.
As the event approaches, expectations are high that the initiative will spark renewed commitment from stakeholders to invest in education and secure a more sustainable future for the Dzita Traditional Area.
