The Electricity Company of Ghana has restored electricity supply to Lashibi and nearby communities earlier than expected after completing Phase Two of the government’s transformer replacement and upgrade programme ahead of schedule.
According to a statement signed by Charles Nii Ayiku Ayiku, the work at the Lashibi Primary Substation was initially expected to end on Friday, April 17, but ECG engineers completed the installation and testing of the new equipment before the deadline.
The company said the successful completion of the project marked another step in government’s efforts to improve the national power network and reduce recurring outages.
ECG also revealed that it is preparing for the next phase of transformer upgrades, with details on the next location and timetable expected to be announced soon through its official channels.
In addition, the company said it would soon begin a wider programme to replace old distribution transformers in affected communities across the country.
The projects are expected to help reduce system overloads, limit frequent power interruptions and improve the reliability of electricity supply.
ECG thanked residents of Lashibi and surrounding areas for their patience and cooperation during the temporary outages, saying their support helped technical teams complete the work safely and efficiently.
