The Volta Regional office of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has intensified efforts to improve service delivery through strategic engagements with major institutions across the region.
Led by Regional General Manager Christina Jatoe-Kaleo, the ECG team paid working visits to the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), and the Ho Nursing Training College to deepen collaboration and tackle persistent operational concerns.
During the meetings, stakeholders raised critical issues affecting their operations, including unstable power supply, billing inconsistencies, and metering challenges. Officials from PURC stressed the importance of ECG adhering strictly to regulatory guidelines, particularly regarding power outages and disconnections outside standard hours.
At UHAS and the Nursing Training College, discussions highlighted the impact of unreliable electricity on essential services such as laboratories, lecture delivery, and student accommodation.
In response, ECG outlined ongoing and planned measures to enhance power stability, including strategies to address voltage fluctuations in the region. The company also proposed academic opportunities for its staff at the institutions, a move welcomed by both UHAS and the Nursing Training College.
As part of immediate interventions, ECG announced plans to conduct a comprehensive energy audit at the Asogli Hostel to improve efficiency and power management.
The initiative forms part of ECG’s broader agenda to build stronger institutional partnerships, enhance operational performance, and ensure more reliable electricity supply through sustained stakeholder collaboration.
