The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, has reaffirmed government’s commitment to the revival and long-term sustainability of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) following a strategic review meeting with the refinery’s management.
The engagement focused on evaluating TOR’s performance in 2025 while setting clear priorities for 2026 and the years ahead, as part of efforts to reposition the refinery as a key national asset in Ghana’s energy landscape.
Dr. Jinapor praised the Managing Director, Mr. Edmond Kombat, and his management team for what he described as decisive and transformational leadership, noting that they had steered the refinery through a difficult period marked by deep operational and financial challenges inherited by the current administration.
He said early signs of recovery and improved stability reflected the resilience and commitment of TOR’s leadership, adding that these efforts were laying the groundwork for sustained growth, efficiency and value creation.
The Minister assured management of continued government support, stressing that TOR’s recovery is critical to Ghana’s energy security and aligns with the country’s broader green transition agenda.
Management of the refinery used the opportunity to brief the Minister on ongoing reforms, key operational bottlenecks and planned initiatives for 2026, expressing confidence that intensified efforts would restore TOR to optimal capacity and improve overall performance in the coming years.
