Management of veteran gospel musician Esther Smith has stepped in to defend the integrity of Pastor Elvis Agyemang of Alpha Hour, following a wave of social media claims linking him to alleged monetary demands for prayers.
In a statement addressing the controversy, the management rejected the allegations as unfounded and misleading, stressing that no money was requested or received during engagements between Esther Smith’s team and the Alpha Hour leadership.
The statement emphasised that interactions with Pastor Elvis Agyemang and his team were conducted in an atmosphere of mutual respect and pastoral care, with appropriate security and logistical support provided throughout the period of engagement.
Management described the Alpha Hour convener as a leader known for accountability and transparency, adding that attempts to portray him otherwise amount to a distortion of facts.
Beyond clarifying the issue, Esther Smith’s management used the opportunity to caution the public against the spread of unverified information on social media and urged media practitioners to prioritise fact-checking to protect reputations.
The statement concluded that the clarification was issued to promote truth, calm tensions and prevent further misinformation surrounding the matter.
