A representative of the family of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo has accused former Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo of sidelining relatives in preparations for her father’s funeral and failing to honour some of his final wishes.
Speaking publicly on the matter, family secretary Dr Philip Siaw Kissi alleged that there has been little or no consultation between Adwoa Safo and family members regarding arrangements for the burial of the renowned church leader and inventor.
According to him, disagreements surrounding the funeral stem partly from what he described as a strained relationship between father and daughter prior to Apostle Safo’s death.
Dr Kissi claimed that the two were not on speaking terms for some time before his passing, alleging that tensions between them remained unresolved.
He further alleged that Apostle Safo had given specific instructions concerning his burial, including requests that his body should not be embalmed, refrigerated or subjected to any form of preservation, and that he should be buried without delay.
The family representative contended that those wishes have not been fully respected, accusing Adwoa Safo of acting contrary to the late Apostle’s directives.
Dr Kissi said the family had initially chosen to remain silent but decided to speak out because of growing concerns over how the funeral arrangements were being handled.
He appealed to the public and the media to support efforts aimed at fostering reconciliation and understanding among all parties involved.
The latest claims add to the ongoing dispute surrounding preparations for the funeral of Apostle Safo, a prominent figure whose contributions to Ghana’s religious, technological and industrial development earned him national recognition.
Adwoa Safo has not publicly responded to the latest allegations.
