..Three Accomplices on the Run as Police Intensify Manhunt
The Dansoman Circuit Court has remanded a 21-year-old fisherman, Michael Dodoo, into police custody for his alleged involvement in the theft of GHC 50,800 and two mobile phones from a businessman’s parked vehicle at Accra Central.
Dodoo, who appeared before the court presided over by Halimah El-Alawa Abdul-Bassit, pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit crime, unlawful entry, and stealing. He is set to reappear on October 20, 2025, as police continue their investigation into the case.
According to the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Christopher Wonder, the incident occurred on September 20, 2025, around 4:00 a.m., when the complainant, Seidu Mohammed, a businessman from Koforidua, parked his Opel vehicle in front of the UBA Bank, Accra Central Branch.
The complainant reportedly left his bag containing GHC 50,800 in cash and two Tecno mobile phones valued at GHC 3,500 inside the car and crossed the road to buy tea from a nearby vendor, without locking the vehicle.
Seizing the opportunity, Dodoo and three accomplices — identified only as Prince, Amuquaye, and Sadiku — allegedly opened the car door and made away with the cash and phones.
Police investigations revealed that the group was notorious for breaking into parked vehicles in the Accra Central area. Acting on intelligence, officers arrested Dodoo, and a search on him uncovered two Tecno phones, which the complainant later identified as his stolen property.
During interrogation, Dodoo reportedly confessed to the theft and disclosed that a fight broke out among the gang members when they attempted to share the stolen money. He claimed that Amuquaye took custody of the cash, promising to divide it later.
Police say efforts are ongoing to arrest the other three suspects, who are currently on the run, while investigations continue to recover the stolen funds.
