The African luxury landscape just got a major upgrade. In a glamorous affair at the Pelican Hotel, premier Ghanaian perfume house Maison Yusif officially launched its highly anticipated high-end fragrance, “The Beast.”
Billed as a Parfum Extrême, the new scent is designed to do more than just turn heads as it aims to shift global perceptions of African craftsmanship and establish Ghana as a powerhouse in international perfumery.
The exclusive launch event drew an elite crowd of entrepreneurs, creatives, fashion icons, and fragrance connoisseurs.
Guests were treated to an interactive scent session exploring the fragrance’s unique notes, master craftsmanship, and remarkable longevity, sparking immediate rave reviews from attendees who noted the brand’s ability to compete directly with historic international legacy houses.
A Symbol of Unapologetic Power
Unlike conventional, mass-market scents, The Beast was engineered as a symbol of authority, resilience, and fearless ambition. Handcrafted entirely in Accra, the rich composition blends elegance with intensity, tailored for individuals who command respect and leave an unforgettable impression.
Founder and Creative Director Yusif Jnr Meizongo explained that the name was chosen deliberately to reflect dominance and character.
“The fragrance needed a name that immediately communicated power and character,” Meizongo shared. “After several ideas, ‘The Beast’ perfectly captured everything we wanted the perfume to represent.”
Redefining African Luxury on Global Terms
For Meizongo, The Beast represents a pivotal moment for the brand. Maison Yusif isn’t looking to copy Western luxury blueprints; it’s building its own empire.
“Our dream has never been limited to Ghana,” Meizongo stated.
“We’ve always envisioned Maison Yusif becoming a respected global luxury fragrance house while proudly carrying the African identity. We are not chasing anyone. We’re creating our own legacy as a niche royal fragrance house proudly designed, produced, and perfected in Ghana.”
Meizongo emphasized that African brands must stop borrowing inspiration from foreign markets and instead set their own standards for sophistication and quality.
A Bold Step Forward
Echoing the founder’s vision, Maison Yusif Brand Ambassador Tyclev praised the fragrance as a declaration of confidence and strength.
“This is not just about smelling good; it’s about making a statement,” Tyclev remarked. “The Beast is for people who are bold, fearless, and unapologetically themselves. We have the talent, we have the creativity, and we have what it takes to compete with any luxury fragrance brand in the world.”
Tyclev also issued a rallying cry for the public to champion homegrown excellence: “Let’s celebrate what we’re building here because this is only the beginning. I have no doubt that The Beast will become one of the most sought-after fragrances to come out of Africa.”
Looking to the future, Maison Yusif has laid out a strategic 10-year road map, aiming to expand its footprint aggressively across the African continent before taking on the wider international luxury markets. If the reception of The Beast is any indication, Africa’s scent revolution has officially arrived.
