The Ghana Accountability for Learning Outcomes Project (GALOP) has enhanced educational infrastructure in Mfigmado, Kpandai District, with the commissioning of a modern six-unit classroom block. The facility, which includes changing rooms, is aimed at improving teaching and learning conditions in the community.
GALOP, a five-year $174 million initiative launched in 2019, targets approximately 10,000 basic schools nationwide, focusing on boosting learning outcomes, equity, and accountability within Ghana’s education sector.
At the commissioning, Kpandai District Chief Executive, Mr. Haruna Abdul Karim, urged community members to take ownership of the facility, ensure proper maintenance, and collaborate with the District Directorate of Education to fully operationalise the school, including teacher postings and furniture provision.
Project Supervisor Mr. Alhassan assured that the contractor would address any structural defects during the six-month defect liability period, ensuring the classroom block remains in excellent condition.
Residents of Mfigmado and surrounding areas expressed gratitude to GALOP and the district assembly for the intervention, pledging to maintain the facility and support quality education. The new classroom block is expected to increase access to education for local schoolchildren and contribute to national efforts to strengthen basic education outcomes.
