The Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued a strong warning to parents and guardians to be on high alert against fraudulent individuals and groups demanding payment for Senior High School placements.
In response to growing reports on social media about alleged fees being charged for school placement, the GES clarified in a statement that the entire placement process is completely free and no one should be paying to secure admission into any Senior High School or Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution.
The statement, signed by the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Feny, urged parents to ignore unofficial sources and rely only on the official Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS), accredited Resolution Centres, or the GES’s verified communication channels for assistance.
“This exercise is absolutely free of charge,” the statement said. “Anyone demanding money for placement is attempting to defraud the public.”
GES also called on parents and students to immediately report any such extortion attempts to the police or the nearest GES office, stressing that such actions are not only illegal but undermine the credibility and fairness of the national placement system.
With placement season often marked by anxiety and misinformation, GES reassured the public that no qualified student will be left out and that all placements are strictly merit-based.
The service reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and equity, noting that it remains focused on ensuring that every eligible student is placed fairly and according to their academic performance and school choices.
