Ghanaian tourism entrepreneur and aviation professional Mary Nyamekye Asamoah has received continental recognition for her contribution to travel, aviation training and youth empowerment after being named among the recipients of the Africa Travel 100 Tour Operators Award 2026.
Madame Asamoah received the honour at the 22nd edition of the Akwaaba Travel Market in Nigeria, joining a select group of tourism professionals recognised for their contributions to Africa’s travel and tourism industry.
She is the Chief Executive Officer of Spotless Travel and Tours and Spotless Aviation and Professional Training Institute, two ventures through which she combines tourism services with professional training for young people seeking careers in aviation, hospitality and tourism.
Her recognition highlights a career that has evolved from aviation service delivery to entrepreneurship and skills development, with a particular focus on preparing young people for opportunities within the travel and tourism sector.
Madame Asamoah began her professional journey as a cabin crew member with Starbow Airline, where she gained experience in aviation operations, hospitality and customer service.
She subsequently moved into the travel and tourism business, establishing Spotless Travel and Tours to organise trips for individuals and groups across Africa and other international destinations.
Through the company, she has sought to expose travellers to different cultures, destinations and experiences while contributing to tourism promotion across the continent.
Her entrepreneurial activities later expanded into professional training with the establishment of Spotless Aviation and Professional Training Institute.
The institute aims to equip young people with the practical knowledge, skills and confidence required to pursue careers in aviation, hospitality and tourism.
A distinctive feature of her training approach is the use of an aircraft as an office and learning environment, giving students practical exposure to aspects of the aviation industry.
Madame Asamoah’s work reflects an approach that combines business development with human capital development, particularly at a time when skills training remains important to preparing young people for employment opportunities in the service industry.
Beyond her existing businesses, she has expressed a long-term ambition to establish and operate her own airline, drawing on her experience in aviation, tourism, entrepreneurship and professional training.
The Africa Travel 100 Tour Operators Award adds to her professional recognition and underscores her growing presence in the African tourism industry.
The Akwaaba Travel Market is a major travel and tourism trade event that brings together industry professionals, destination representatives and other stakeholders to explore partnerships and promote opportunities within Africa’s travel market.
Madame Asamoah’s recognition places a spotlight on Ghanaian participation in the continent’s tourism industry, particularly efforts to combine travel entrepreneurship with training and career development for the next generation of aviation and hospitality professionals.
