Ghana’s home kit for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has been rated the best among all 48 participating nations in a global jersey ranking compiled by The Athletic, a sports publication owned by The New York Times.
The ranking, released on June 8, placed the Black Stars’ home shirt ahead of traditional football heavyweights including Brazil, England, Germany, and Morocco, which completed the top five.
According to the publication, Ghana’s jersey was distinguished by its bold design and strong cultural references, which set it apart from other national kits in the tournament.
The design incorporates motifs inspired by traditional Ghanaian art and symbolism, blending heritage-driven aesthetics with a modern football look.
Several other African nations also earned notable recognition in the rankings. Morocco placed fifth, Côte d’Ivoire came in 14th, South Africa 19th, DR Congo 23rd, and Senegal 32nd.
The assessment focused purely on design and visual appeal rather than sporting performance, but the top placement adds positive attention for Ghana ahead of the global tournament.
The Black Stars are scheduled to begin their World Cup campaign against Panama in Toronto on June 17, 2026.
