Mr. Emmanuel Korbla Agbaxode, the current Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) for the Volta and Oti Regions, is making a bid for a second term, pledging continuity, experience, and renewed commitment to unity and progress within the Association.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after filing his nomination on Thursday, May 29, Agbaxode acknowledged the challenges of his first term but expressed confidence that the lessons learned have positioned him to better serve the Association.
“It was a difficult journey, often lonely, with some members stepping back from Association activities. But it has prepared me to lead with even greater focus,” he said.
Agbaxode emphasized achievements such as capacity-building workshops and skills training during his tenure, noting that his second-term priorities include completing the regional Press Centre and advancing housing projects for members.
He also outlined plans to deepen collaboration with key stakeholders, including the Volta Regional Minister, Mr. James Gunu—a former classmate and fellow GJA member—and the Regional Coordinating Council, to create more opportunities for media professionals in the region.
As the GJA heads toward elections on June 30, Agbaxode called for unity among members, stating, “Together, we can position our Association for greater relevance and success.”
Key election milestones include vetting on June 3, balloting on June 9, official campaign activities from June 9–28, and the final vote on June 30, 2025.
