The Ghana Medical Association says it is providing psychological, psychiatric and legal support to health professionals implicated in the death of Charles Amissah as investigations and disciplinary proceedings continue.
Prof. Ernest Yorke said the association had engaged mental health professionals and legal experts to assist affected doctors and nurses following findings by the Prof. Agyemang Badu Akosa committee, which concluded that delays in emergency care contributed to the 29-year-old engineer’s death. The report indicated that Amissah was turned away by multiple health facilities before his death.
Speaking on The Point of View, Prof. Yorke stressed that while accountability remains important, the disciplinary process must be fair, transparent and guided by professional and legal standards. He said the GMA would closely monitor proceedings to ensure justice for all parties involved.
