As part of activities marking the graduation of its maiden cadet batch, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) College in Kyebi extended a compassionate gesture to the Asiakwa SOS Children’s Village, donating assorted essential items to support the welfare of the children.
The donation, led by Deputy Chief Fire Officer (DCFO) James Christian N.K. Ankrah, Commandant of the College, underscores the institution’s commitment to community engagement and social responsibility, even as it celebrates a historic milestone—the passing out of Cadet Intake XXIV, the first to be trained at the newly established fire service college.
During the visit, DCFO Ankrah and his team interacted warmly with the children, sharing messages of encouragement and motivation, urging them to stay focused on their education and aspire to become responsible citizens.
“Beyond firefighting, we are here to serve and uplift our communities,” he said. “We believe in building relationships with our neighbours, and this is the beginning of a lasting bond with the SOS Village.”
The college also pledged to sustain the relationship through future visits and support initiatives.
The management of the Asiakwa SOS Village expressed heartfelt gratitude for the thoughtful donation and commended the College for choosing to celebrate such a key moment in its history with an act of community service.
This initiative not only strengthens the Fire Service’s visibility in the Eastern Region but also reinforces the role of security institutions in supporting vulnerable groups and contributing to nation-building beyond their core mandates.
