The Ghana Gold Board (Ghana Gold Board) has begun a nationwide renewal exercise for gold trading licences, requiring eligible operators to update their permits ahead of expiry.
The process, which started on May 25, applies to all licence holders whose authorisations are set to expire within the next three months. Renewals are to be completed through the Board’s official online licensing portal as part of efforts to improve regulation and efficiency in the gold trading sector.
In a statement, the GoldBod said applicants must meet updated eligibility requirements, including minimum trading volumes within the past 12 months.
Under the new conditions, T1 licence holders must have traded at least two kilograms of gold, while T2 licence holders are required to record a minimum of five kilograms. Self-finance aggregator licence holders must demonstrate a trading volume of at least one metric tonne within the same period.
The Board further stressed that applicants must be fully compliant with existing licence conditions and must not have breached any regulatory requirements.
It added that traders who submit renewal applications and pay the required fees may continue operations while their applications are being processed, with additional documentation to be requested where necessary.
The GoldBod urged all licence holders to comply with the directive and complete their renewals promptly to avoid disruptions in their trading activities.
