The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has warned gold buying licence holders that failure to submit mandatory monthly transaction reports could result in the revocation of their licences.
In a notice dated February 26, 2026, the regulator expressed concern that several operators had defaulted on their reporting obligations as required under the terms and conditions governing their licences.
Under existing rules, licence holders must submit comprehensive monthly reports detailing gold purchases, including quantity, purity levels, value, and related trading activities. Reports for January 2026 were due by February 15, but GoldBod indicated that a number of licencees failed to comply.
The Board cautioned that persistent non-compliance constitutes an offence under Section 63 of the Ghana Gold Board Act and may attract sanctions, including withdrawal of operating licences.
GoldBod emphasised that strict enforcement is necessary to promote transparency, accountability, and sound governance within Ghana’s gold trading sector, reiterating its commitment to upholding regulatory standards across the industry.
