The government has reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating work on the Suame Road project, announcing a major financial boost aimed at improving construction pace and quality.
During an inspection tour on Tuesday, April 28, the Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, revealed that an additional GH₵3 billion has been approved to enhance ongoing works. He emphasized that the new funding is meant to strengthen, not divert, resources allocated to the interchange component of the project.
The Minister also disclosed that authorities have settled $29.5 million in outstanding payments owed to contractors, a move expected to ease financial pressures and sustain progress on site.
According to him, the government remains focused on completing all inherited road projects, with the Suame development being a key priority. While the entire project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2028, he assured that portions currently under construction will be finished by the end of this year.
Mr. Agbodza noted that work is progressing steadily and remains on track, expressing confidence that the timelines set for the project will be met.
