Brigadier General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono, Director-General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), has conducted an inspection tour of the ongoing Keta Port Administrative Office construction project at Kedzi in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region.
The visit was aimed at assessing the progress of work and identifying key areas that require further improvements to ensure the project’s timely completion.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Brigadier General Tanye-Kulono reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the successful execution of the project, pledging financial and logistical support to accelerate the work.
“This is my first visit here, so I do not have much to compare it with at the moment. However, I will be in a better position to make a more informed assessment on my next visit. That said, I expect to see significant progress beyond what I am seeing today,” he stated.
He expressed concern over the slow pace of construction and urged all stakeholders to work collaboratively to meet the stipulated timeline, emphasizing the importance of the project for the economic development of the Volta Region and the nation at large.
Despite the delays, he commended stakeholders, including chiefs, contractors, and the local community, for their continuous support and contributions toward the realization of the project. He further appealed for sustained efforts until the project’s successful completion.
Mr. Yaw Gyamfi Boateng, Chief Executive Officer of PSB Realty Limited, the firm in charge of the project, revealed that the office complex was originally slated for completion in November 2025 but has faced setbacks due to unforeseen challenges. Currently, only 23 percent of the work has been completed.
“We are optimistic that if all goes according to plan and with the necessary government support, we will complete the six-story administrative office building by March 2026,” he stated.
As part of his visit, Brigadier General Tanye-Kulono and his team also paid courtesy calls on Togbi Joachim Acolatse V, Paramount Chief of Kedzi Traditional Council, and Togbi Sri III, the Overlord (Awomefia) of Anlo State. The chiefs assured their commitment to providing guidance and support to facilitate the project’s successful completion.
The Keta Port Administrative Office project is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening Ghana’s maritime operations and boosting economic activities in the Volta Region.
