The Ghana Revenue Authority has reaffirmed the importance of faith and spiritual guidance in its operations, following a courtesy call on the Sheikh Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu during the holy month of Ramadan.
Led by Commissioner-General Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, the delegation visited the Chief Imam to seek prayers, strengthen ties with religious leadership, and present donations to support the Muslim community.
During the visit, the Authority donated assorted items, including bags of rice, cartons of cooking oil, mackerel, bottled water, as well as a cash contribution of GH¢20,000.
In his remarks, Sheikh Sharubutu emphasized the need for peace, humility, and unity among Ghanaians, stressing that national development depends on harmonious coexistence across religious and ethnic lines. He encouraged citizens to uphold good conduct and mutual respect, noting that true worth should be measured by righteousness rather than background.
The Chief Imam expressed gratitude for the gesture and offered prayers for the leadership and staff of the GRA, asking for strength and success in their duties.
Mr. Sarpong, on his part, highlighted the need for divine guidance as the Authority works to meet its revenue targets and effectively carry out its mandate. He noted that the visit formed part of efforts to build stronger relationships with faith-based institutions.
He further revealed that the GRA has taken steps to recognize its internal Muslim community by approving the appointment of an Imam and an assistant, with the final selection to be presented to the Chief Imam for prayers and endorsement.
