The chiefs of Danfa, Kweiman, and Amrahia in the Greater Accra Region have strongly rejected allegations of involvement in the recent demolition at the Amrahia Dairy Farm lands, asserting that the incident was a deliberate attempt to damage their reputations and stall ongoing land restitution processes.
In a joint statement, the traditional leaders revealed their investigations point to a member of the Agbawe family from Oyarifa as the instigator of the demolition, reportedly acting with backing from the Adenta Police Commander. The chiefs emphasized that they had no prior knowledge of or role in the demolition.
The contested lands, acquired by the government years ago and currently under audit, have been subject to prolonged efforts by the chiefs to reclaim custodianship. They believe the demolition was orchestrated to disrupt these efforts and discredit them before government authorities.
Nii Djanie Klu, spokesperson for the chiefs, highlighted concerns over the politically charged timing of the incident, while Danfa Chief Nii Djanie Tsuru Afutu Brempong IV accused the Agbawe family of illegitimately challenging the rightful ownership and obstructing the restitution process.
The chiefs are urging a thorough investigation and call on the government to maintain focus on the audit and the rightful return of the land to traditional custodians.
