New data from the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) suggests Ghana’s economy showed stronger momentum in October 2025, recording a notable improvement in growth compared to the same period a year earlier.
According to the Monthly Indicator of Economic Growth (MIEG), the economy expanded by 3.8 per cent in October 2025, marking an increase from the 3.0 per cent growth registered in October 2024. The figures, released on January 14, 2026, point to increased economic activity and higher output across key sectors.
Government Statistician, Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu, said the data reflects a positive shift in performance, explaining that economic output during the period surpassed what was recorded a year ago. He noted that the rise indicates improved production levels of goods and services within the economy.
The MIEG, which tracks economic performance on a monthly basis, is used to provide early signals on the direction of the economy ahead of the release of quarterly and annual GDP figures.
The GSS noted that the October results add to indications of a slow but steady recovery, as authorities continue measures aimed at stabilising the economy and strengthening growth prospects.
