Authorities of Ho Dome Evangelical Presbyterian Basic School have renewed calls for urgent infrastructure support following a donation of educational materials by an old student, Dr Robert Doh, National Youth Commissioner of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Proforum.
The appeal came during a presentation ceremony held on April 24, 2026, where Dr Doh donated exercise books, mathematical sets, pens and pencils to final-year Junior High School students to aid their preparation for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). The gesture also extended to high-performing pupils in Primary Four to Six, who received exercise books as motivation to sustain academic excellence.
While expressing appreciation for the support, school authorities highlighted pressing challenges affecting teaching and learning, including inadequate security and the absence of a proper canteen. According to them, the low perimeter fence has made the school vulnerable to burglary, while the lack of a canteen has forced the use of classrooms as storage spaces.
Dr Doh encouraged the students to take their studies seriously, assuring them of additional rewards if they excel in the upcoming BECE. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the school’s development, noting that education remains a critical pathway to success.
The students, through their representative, described the donation as timely and beneficial, saying it would significantly aid their exam preparation. Dr Doh further assured the school management that their concerns would be considered as part of ongoing efforts to improve conditions in his former school.
