Twifo Praso Senior High School in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District of the Central Region is struggling with significant infrastructural and logistical challenges, raising concerns about its ability to provide quality education.
Headmaster of the school, Mr. Daniel Aidoo, highlighted these issues in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, stressing that the lack of essential facilities is negatively impacting both students and staff.
One of the major concerns is the absence of a school bus, which forces administrators to rely on commercial transport for field trips and academic excursions. Mr. Aidoo noted that these vehicles are often overloaded, posing serious safety risks to students.
Additionally, the school’s ICT laboratory is facing a shortage of computers, making it difficult for the growing number of students taking ICT as an elective to receive adequate training.
Another pressing issue is the lack of a duty vehicle for the headmaster, which hinders effective supervision and monitoring of school activities as well as engagement with surrounding communities.
Water supply is also becoming a problem as the school’s increasing student population has put pressure on its existing boreholes. Mr. Aidoo emphasized the urgent need for an additional borehole to ensure a consistent water supply for students and staff.
Established in 1981 with just 74 students, Twifo Praso Senior High School now has a population of 2,569, yet its infrastructure has not expanded to match this growth.
The headmaster is calling on the government, parents, philanthropists, and other stakeholders to step in and help address these challenges to ensure a conducive learning environment for students.
