In a rare judicial decision, the Bibiani District Court not only handed identical twins Seth and Emmanuel Frimpong 48‑month jail terms for jointly stealing a GH¢13,000 motorcycle, but also ordered they serve time apart—one in Obuasi and the other in Kumasi.
Presiding Judge Lord Delvin Essandoh drew on the legend of Romulus and Remus to illustrate his point: “Being born together doesn’t obligate you to a shared path of crime,” he told the court.
The twins, who confessed to hiring a tricycle driver to snatch the unregistered bike on June 16, 2025, sought leniency after refunding GH¢3,440. Instead, the judge imposed concurrent sentences on counts of conspiracy and theft, and mandated their separation “to underscore individual responsibility.”
The recovered motorcycle was returned to owner Daniel Fosu, completing a case that combined legal precedent with a symbolic message about breaking cycles—even those of identical twins.
