Karpowership Ghana Company Limited has once again asserted its leadership in health, safety, and environmental stewardship by securing two top honours at the 2025 Health, Environment, Safety, and Security (HESS) Awards in Accra — a feat that cements the company’s position as a standard-bearer in safety culture and digital transformation.
At the heart of the recognition was Karpowership’s seamless integration of safety protocols and digital innovations into its operational framework. The company received the Best Company in Fire Safety and Security Management Practices and Best Company in HESS Integration and Digitalization awards — an endorsement of its success in blending technology with proactive health and safety measures.
Speaking on behalf of the company, Head of Corporate Communications, Sandra Amarquaye, highlighted the deeper significance of the awards: “This is more than recognition; it’s a validation of how far we’ve come in embedding safety into every layer of our organisation. We’re not just following regulations — we’re setting the pace.”
Karpowership’s ISO certifications in environmental management (ISO 14001), occupational health and safety (ISO 45001), and quality management (ISO 9001) form the backbone of its operations. However, what sets the company apart is its strategic use of digital tools to track safety metrics, predict hazards, and enhance decision-making in real time.
“This achievement reflects our belief that safety is not a department — it’s a way of life. Through continuous investment in systems and people, we’re ensuring our power generation processes remain safe, sustainable, and efficient,” Ms. Amarquaye added.
The annual HESS Awards, now in their seventh year, celebrate industry players who are redefining excellence in corporate safety, environmental care, and operational integrity. For Karpowership Ghana, this year’s accolades add to a growing list of achievements as it continues to power communities while safeguarding lives and ecosystems.
As the energy sector grapples with rising environmental demands and evolving risk landscapes, Karpowership’s performance offers a clear roadmap: prioritise people, invest in innovation, and build a culture where safety isn’t optional — it’s fundamental.
