In a significant breakthrough against organized crime in the Central Region, the Central East Regional Police Command has arrested 19 individuals suspected to be at the heart of illicit drug distribution and robbery incidents around Kasoa Dominase and the Onion Market area.
The dawn operation, executed on Thursday, June 12, 2025, forms part of a broader crackdown on escalating criminal activities that have plagued the busy commercial zones. According to a statement from the Regional Police Public Affairs Unit, the suspects were apprehended following weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance.
The arrested individuals include: Abubakari Ibrahim, Mohammed Awal, Shafiu Salisu, Hamza Amadu, Ali Adamu, Balhani Fuseini, Jamal Haruna, Zakari Abdulai, Abdul Aziz, Bera Kalidu, Moro Baki, Anthony Lucky, Razak Yussif, Sumani Issah, Sulley Mohammed, Abdul Salifu, Eliasu Bukari, Kamelo Muuk, and Osumanu Amadu.
Seized during the operation were large quantities of suspected Indian hemp and various controlled substances, notably Tramadol and Red – drugs often associated with substance misuse and linked to violent crime.
Police say the suspects are currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations. Authorities indicate that they will be processed and brought before court once preliminary inquiries are completed.
DSP Victor Kofi Dosoo, head of Public Affairs for the Central East Region, lauded the effort and coordination of officers involved, calling the bust a “critical step toward restoring safety in one of the region’s most commercially active yet crime-prone enclaves.”
The Command is now calling on residents and market operators to collaborate more actively with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities. “Fighting crime requires a united front. We urge the public to be our eyes and ears,” the statement emphasized.
This latest bust reflects mounting pressure on criminal networks as regional police intensify their efforts to dismantle syndicates contributing to the surge in drug-related offenses and street robberies in Kasoa and its environs.
