The Keta Education Fund is set to support schools in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region with more than 5,000 exercise books and other educational materials to help improve classroom teaching and learning.
The donation, initiated by the Founder of the Fund, Madam Enyonam Adzo Apetorgbor, is aimed at easing the financial pressure on parents and schools while addressing some of the basic resource challenges confronting learners and teachers.
The items, which include exercise books and writing board markers, are scheduled to be presented on September 11 at the Education Directorate of the Keta Municipal Assembly.
The event is expected to bring together education stakeholders, school authorities and officials of the Keta Education Fund to formally receive the materials.
Madam Apetorgbor said the writing board markers were particularly intended to replace ageing blackboards still being used in some schools across the Municipality.
She said providing basic teaching and learning resources would help create a more conducive classroom environment and contribute to improved educational outcomes.
“The move is expected to significantly improve classroom conditions for both teachers and learners, and it also forms part of our continued commitment to investing in quality education in Keta Municipality and beyond,” she said.
She explained that the initiative reflected the Fund’s motto, “Investing in Quality Education, Empowering the Future,” and formed part of its broader effort to support learners and improve teaching and learning conditions.
According to Madam Apetorgbor, the intervention was also designed to address some longstanding challenges in schools, including inadequate basic learning materials and the continued use of worn-out classroom infrastructure.
She said the donation demonstrated her commitment to supporting the educational development of children in the Municipality, particularly vulnerable learners who might otherwise struggle to access essential school supplies.
Madam Apetorgbor therefore appealed to individuals, corporate organisations and other well-wishers to partner with the Fund to improve educational standards in Keta.
She stressed that sustainable improvements in schools could not be achieved by one institution or individual, but required the collective commitment of parents, communities, education authorities, businesses and other stakeholders.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), she said investment in basic educational resources remained an important step towards preparing young people for academic success and building a stronger future for the Municipality.
The managers of the Keta Education Fund said further information on the distribution of the donated items to beneficiary schools would be announced in due course.
They encouraged assembly members, educationists, individuals and the general public to support the Fund’s activities and participate in the donation ceremony at the forecourt of the Keta Municipal Assembly.
The Fund said it remained committed to supporting schools and learners in the Municipality as part of efforts to strengthen access to quality education and improve learning conditions.
