Ghanaian musician King Balance has reflected on the challenges he faced on TikTok, saying his frequent involvement in online controversies, including a clash with actress and content creator Asantewaa, almost brought his music career to an end.
The musician said his decision to participate in trending disputes on the platform came at a significant cost, including the repeated removal of his TikTok account.
Speaking on Angel FM in Kumasi, King Balance disclosed that his account had been taken down about four times, limiting his ability to grow his audience and promote his music.
“My TikTok account has been taken down like four times. If not for that, I would have been hitting four million followers by now,” he said.
According to him, he developed a habit of joining almost every controversy that gained attention on TikTok, even when the issue did not directly involve him.
“The reason is that whatever trend happens on TikTok, I involve myself; even fights that are not my fight, then I take it on,” he explained.
King Balance said his reputation for engaging in online disputes became so strong that some people began paying him to intervene in their personal battles on the platform.
“People used to pay me to fight for them on the app,” he disclosed.
However, he said his involvement in a dispute with Asantewaa over the Ama Official case proved particularly damaging to his career.
He explained that Asantewaa’s strong presence and popularity on TikTok at the time meant that the controversy attracted significant attention and ultimately affected his own standing on the platform.
“Asantewaa was very famous on the app, so the fight on behalf of Ama Official ruined my career,” he stated.
Perseverance Behind Comeback
Despite the setbacks, King Balance said he refused to abandon his entertainment career.
He attributed his eventual return to perseverance and determination, saying he continued working to rebuild his presence after the controversies and the loss of his TikTok account.
The musician said the experience taught him valuable lessons about the consequences of becoming involved in every trending issue on social media.
“It is because of perseverance that I was able to reignite my career,” he said.
King Balance’s account highlights the growing influence of social media controversies on the careers of entertainers, particularly musicians and content creators whose visibility and audience engagement increasingly depend on digital platforms.
